Un vêtement de travail Lafont en 100% coton

Is 100% cotton possible for workwear?

Whether you are a craftsman or a star chef, your professional outfit accompanies you every day. Its material must be comfortable and adapted to your job. Some people can’t stand polyester or synthetic fibers for their workwear. This can be due to an allergy, an intolerance or simply by choice, because this type of textile does not always regulate perspiration sufficiently. In this case, it is quite possible to find a cotton workwear, because yes, it exists!

Advantages and disadvantages of cotton workwear

Cotton is a very comfortable fabric to wear. It is flexible because its fibers are naturally elastic. It is permeable and therefore breathable. It is a first choice fabric and besides, nobody can be allergic to it. However, you may be sensitive to fabric rubbing or intolerant to dye. If cotton is so fabulous, why isn’t it ubiquitous in stores dedicated to the sale of professional clothing?
However, 100% cotton workwear has some disadvantages, especially for
medical clothing
. Cotton is a thick textile that takes time to dry, especially when there are pockets. So when it’s necessary to wash a nurse’s tunic or a doctor’s coat every day, it can be problematic for professionals with already very busy days! Cotton, on the other hand, is highly resistant to intensive washing and high temperatures. But it’s a fabric more suited to other industries than medical garments. If you work in a hospital or medical environment, choose a professional garment made of polyester-cotton, or even better, of
Tencel
.

Professional clothing made of moleskin, that fabulous waterproof cotton

Do you know the moleskine? It is a very tightly woven cotton fabric with a coating that gives it water and wind repellent properties. A kind of super-cotton perfectly suited for workwear in the construction and industrial sectors.
The weaving of cotton is essential for a professional quality workwear. This is what makes the garment resistant to tears, abrasion or cold. As the wind does not find a hole to get into, it also increases the thermal comfort of the craftsmen working outside.
Whether it is for a
moleskin jacket
or a pair of wide-leg corduroy pants, your work clothes must be carefully made to last you all day long. They are the perfect complement to your personal protective equipment (PPE): safety shoes, ear muffs, etc. Comfortable, hypoallergenic and resistant, cotton moleskin clothing has always been used by professionals.

The largeot pants, an example of clothing in moleskine fabric

Among the most popular 100% cotton workwear, we find the famous carpenter pants largeot. This is a historical cotton work pant, very popular with woodworkers. It was created by Lafont and has evolved to meet the current needs of building professionals. It is available in denim, velvet or moleskin. The latter is more resistant to stains and lighter than the other two.
There are two types of wideot pants: the French version and the German version. They are distinguished by their cut. The French Adolphe Lafont wide-leg pants have a higher waist. It is flared at the thighs and crotch, tightened at the ankles to avoid stumbling. The German wide-leg pants are more fitted at the thighs and wider at the ankles. It also has a large zippered side pocket that doubles as a tool holder.
Moleskin is a 100% cotton fabric that is used in the composition of many other professional garments: overalls, work jackets, suspender jackets, and of course the timeless overalls!

Other types of cotton workwear

Denim and velvet are also cotton textiles suitable for certain work environments. These are good alternatives to polycotton.
Denim, also called denim, is very resistant. It is an ideal textile for a 100% cotton kitchen jacket. For more flexibility, it sometimes contains elastane. If you often have to bend down or work on your knees, this is the most comfortable solution. Jeans are not suitable for all jobs, but they are very popular with professionals in the hotel and restaurant industry.
Velvet is a 100% cotton fabric that is very effective against the cold. But if you work in an area where liquid splashes are frequent, be aware that it is neither waterproof nor water repellent. Velvet is a cotton textile that still gives you a certain allure.

Choose the professional workwear that suits you!

Beyond the choice of fabric, choose a workwear adapted to your professional activity. Choose multi-pocketed garments for added functionality. If you’re working outdoors, supplement your work attire with warm clothing like a softshell or parka to protect you from the elements. But don’t forget, whether it’s for a cotton t-shirt, a work coat or a pair of kitchen pants, focus on the quality of workmanship and the choice of materials.

Morgane Raimbaud’s signature dish for Lafont

The simplicity of this dessert is overwhelming, yet very elaborate. It is a tribute to freshness. Like an embroiderer, Morgane Raimbaud weaves the meringue with her fine fingers like a spool of thread that she unwinds to welcome the citrus fruits, like a path that links her to her story, for the time being, that of her winning dessert at the French Dessert Championship, called Les sentiers de l’Esterel.
